The Privilege of Aging is Learning How to Care For Yourself In Ways You Didn't Know You Needed

Hey beauty babes,

“The privilege of aging is learning how to care for yourself in ways you didn’t know you needed.”

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about this.

Aging isn’t just about what we see in the mirror. It’s about how we slow down enough to listen to our bodies, spend more time in nature, and start paying attention to the small daily habits that support our health and our skin.

One thing I’ve become much more mindful of over the years is light — specifically natural morning sunlight.

Getting outside in the morning, with bare eyes (no contacts, glasses or sunglasses) during sunrise and again during UVA rise (usually about an hour after sunrise), can help support your circadian rhythm, which influences things like:
• sleep quality
• energy levels
• hormone optimization
• improved vision
• skin health & preparation for UV rays
• hormone balance
• skin repair

Our bodies are designed to work with natural light rhythms, and I personally try to get intentional morning sunlight, before applying sunscreen for the day. I believe we NEED sun and the light it provides.

But balance matters.

As the sun becomes stronger later in the day (especially during UVB exposure), protecting your skin becomes really important — especially if you're heading somewhere warm and sunny after months of minimal sun exposure.

Also, as we age, the skin’s natural repair processes begin slow down. This means past sun exposure can start to show up as:
• pigmentation
• collagen loss
• fine lines
• dullness or uneven tone

If sunscreen is something you've been meaning to be more consistent with, this is a great time to find one you love and make it part of your daily routine.

One of my favorite daily SPFs right now is the SkinBetter Science Tone Smart SPF.

Why I love it:
• mineral protection
• helps even the appearance of skin tone (has a tint)
• blends beautifully into the skin
• lightweight enough to wear and reapply

This month all in-stock SkinBetter Science sunscreens are 20% off online, and the discount will automatically show in your cart.
And beauty babes — if you’re new here, I’m so happy you’re here. Each week, I’ll be sharing more about skin health, aging well, and the simple habits that support healthy, radiant skin over time.

If you ever have questions about skincare, treatments, or products, you can always reply right to this email.
xoxo, Krissy
